2022 Ridgeway Relay

The Ridgeway is one of England's national trails, covering 86.5M from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Overton Hill near Marlborough. The Ridgeway Relay has ten stages which vary in length from 5.4M to 11M. The route is scenic, hilly and off-road.

37 teams took part in the 2022 Ridgeway Relay. The following Oxfordshire clubs provided teams: Abingdon AC (2), Alchester RC (3), Eynsham Roadrunners (3), Headington RoadRunners (3), White Horse Harriers (4) and Witney Road Runners (2). The numbers indicate the number of teams provide by the club. The 37 teams competed in three categories: Mostly Men, Mostly Ladies and Veterans.

This web page gives more details about those Oxfordshire clubs who had teams finishing in the top 4 of each of these categories. I only took photos of some of the runners of stages 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10. You can click on any of the photos on this web page to see the photo in hi-res.

Witney A who were 3rd and the 3rd Mostly Men's team

The best team from Oxfordshire was provided by Witney Road Runners as their Witney A team were the 3rd fastest team (and the 3rd Mostly Men's team). Witney A consisted of Stephen Young, Sam Upton, Luke Edwards, Joel Floyd, Lisa Butler, Sally Howard, Gareth Petts, Chris Colbeck, Tony Lock, and Matthew Lock, Sam and Gareth completed their stages faster than any other runner. Luke was the 3rd fastest for stage 3 and Matt was the 4th fastest for stage 10.

WHH Amazons were the 2nd Mostly Ladies's team

WHH Amazons was one of the teams provided by White Horse Harriers. They were the 2nd Mostly Ladies's team to finish. WHH Amazons consisted of Jacqueline Hall, Sophia Atkins-Quilter, Magdalena Pinney, Marie Cresswell, Kerry Wilkinson, Pip White, Pippa Mack, Simon Harris, Marc Wastle, and Rachel Whiting, Of the runners doing stage 8, Simon was the 4th fastest.
