Goring 10K
10K
OXONGP
"Collect race number and chip on the day." "Race HQ is on the Bourdillon Field behind Goring Primary School." "Starts at Storton Lodge and finishes at the Bourdillon Field." "Closed roads." "Chip timing." "Eco board medal, flapjack." A small section of the route of the race is the same as that of the Woodcote 10K.
Here are my notes about the race from when I did it in 2011: The Goring 10K takes place on undulating rural lanes and footpaths but there are also three or four hills. The race starts at the bottom of a hill outside Goring's Fire Station. The hill climbs from 60m to 95m and lasts about 1K. The race then uses country lanes, 1.5K of the Ridgeway through South Stoke, more country lanes to re-visit the highest point of the course about 1.5K from the end. So you then go down the 1K hill you did at the start but you then run pass the start to do a few meanderings around a housing estate before finishing on the field behind the School.
Tip: if you're wishing to finish fast but are tired at the end of the race, these meanderings can be confusing. So the last 0.5K are worth checking out when you are warming up - have a look at the bit from the START to the FINISH shown on the course map.

Oxfordshire XC Round 5 - Finmere
unknown
One of the Oxfordshire XC events (for certain clubs) taking place on Nov 2nd at Cornbury, Dec 13th in Oxford (TBC), Jan 4th in Oxford, Feb 1st at Guiting Power and Mar 1st at Henley.
Venue for Round 5 was to be the Henley Showground, Greenlands. However, the "ground conditions at Henley Showground are struggling after the continued recent rainfall which means the Estate Office have cancelled all major events to protect both the ground and the people attending".
"This means that Round 5 will not happen at Henley on 1st March."
This Facebook post says "Round 5 will now take place on March 1st on farmland close to Finmere, just over the county border into Buckinghamshire." "There is hard-standing parking at the site of Finmere Car Boot Sale, just off the A421 roundabout, nearest postcode is MK18 4AG. The gates will open at 0800. There is approximately 500m walk from the parking to the club tent and start area, using the subway under the A421." That Facebook post has a map of the car parking area and the subway.
Here's a link to the course map. "Due to the short notice use of this venue, courses may be subject to adjustment."
"We expect to still be able to hold the team relays [after the races of Round 5 have finished] as we normally do at Henley. Thanks to Phil Marshall of Newbury AC for leading this additional friendly competition." There are more details in this Facebook post.

Lions Club of Winslow 10K Road Race
10K

"Venue is Furze Down School, Verney Road." "The route which is a single lap on country lanes is quiet, pleasant and rural through the North Bucks countryside. It leaves Winslow and passes Verney Junction, Sandhills then East Claydon and returns via the Granborough Road to Winslow. (With a bit of a climb to finish, so keep something back!)" A map of the area shows the course varying from about 85m to 113m. When I ran it in 2010 I found a long gentle incline lasting from 3.5K to 5K and another short one at 5.5K. As mentioned above, the cruel bit was at the end: there was a steep hill from 9K to 9.5K. Needless to say, this is where the official photographer was positioned to catch all the grimaces!

"Venue is Sparsholt College, Westley Lane." Sparsholt is 5M NW of Winchester. "The races are set in the  beautiful countryside just outside Winchester on stunning tracks, bridleways, and footpaths that surround the famous Farley Mount. This local landmark is the jewel in the crown of our Half Marathon Trail Run. The route is rolling rather than hilly, so it will ease you into your new year of running. The route consists of visually rewarding tree-lined sections and spectacular vistas over the Hampshire countryside and a little climb up to Farley's Mount on the Epic route." 10K

"Collect race number and chip on the day." "Everyone must register online which you can do right up to 0945 on the day of the race. Regretfully there will be no 'on the day, offline' registrations."
"Venue is the Village Hall." "Attracting both club and non-affiliated runners, the Woodcote 10K is something of a challenge. Just completing the undulating, meandering course, along back roads, flanked by woods and farmland, gives a real sense of achievement. It is frequently described by participants as their favourite race of the year." "K markers." "Chip timing." "Medal." My notes from when I did this in 2011 say 'this 10K is on country lanes in the Chilterns - it starts from the village green in Woodcote, goes downhill along lanes through woods to Goring - at 5K,  it goes up the killer hill that is outside Goring's Fire Station, the same hill that is used for the start of the  Goring 10K - there is then a 1K respite but this is followed by a long climb back to Woodcote - elsewhere on the web, it's said to be a "tough road race, 5K downhill followed by 5K uphill" and that describes it very well'.

unknown
One of the Chiltern XC events (for certain clubs). The events are at St Albans on Oct 11th, Oxford on Nov 15th, Milton Keynes on Dec 6th, Watford on Jan 10th and Luton on Feb 7th. These are the venues and dates that are given on this web page.
"Match 4 takes place at Cassiobury Park." Here's a link to the course maps. "Each race starts 30 minutes later than the standard timetable to accommodate an event taking place at the local golf course."
"The park could be very wet and muddy so the U11s and U13s should consider long spikes. All other courses cross 100m of tarmac between the 2 bridges and much of the main paths have had hardcore added, possibly studs/trail shoes or even road shoes will be a better option. It is recommended that you arrive early enough to recce an amount of the course you will be running to help you make a decision."
"If you wish to have a recce of the course, please comply with the marshals who will be in place, and we ask that you are respectful and give way to the golfers especially between 1000 and 1400 (as they have an important competition and have granted us special permission)."
